The Association of Business Associations in Berlin and Brandenburg eV, or UVB for short, is the top economic and socio-political association in the region. It has around 60 business and employer associations from Berlin and Brandenburg . In addition to the regional associations of industry , trade and services as well as the craft , nationwide associations are also members of the UVB.

The UVB is the regional member association of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA). The UVB also performs the tasks of the Berlin and Brandenburg State Representation of the Federation of German Industries (BDI).

The association represents the overall interests of the economy towards politics, administration and social groups within the region. The active representation of entrepreneurial interests is just as important as the support and information of the member associations and companies. Together with the regional district of the DGB, the UVB is a social partner and responsible for social self-administration.

The Entrepreneur Day of Business in Berlin and Brandenburg is the annual major event of the UVB. It is alternately under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Brandenburg and the Governing Mayor of Berlin.

Economic policy

The association is based on the concept of a common economic region Berlin-Brandenburg and adheres to the goal of a common federal state.

This diversity is also reflected in the large number of around 60 business and employer associations, whose umbrella organization is the UVB. In addition to the regional associations of industry, trade, insurance and service providers as well as the skilled trades, the UVB also has nationwide associations.

In the opinion of the association, a modern, efficient and innovative industry is of particular importance for the economic development of the region. Almost 200,000 people are employed in more than 1,800 industrial companies in both countries. The association intends to exploit this growth potential in cooperation with politics, administration, business and science.

Labor market and personnel policy

The demographic development has already reached the training market. It is therefore foreseeable that in the future the securing of skilled workers will determine the operational personnel work of the company. The main objective of the UVB in the field of labor market and personnel policy is therefore to secure the skilled workforce in the capital region. The instruments of active labor market policy are intended to support companies in their search for and selection of staff, recruitment and staff development.

Educational policy

The Committee for Education Policy - headed by Martin Stöckmann, Head of Siemens Professional Education Berlin and Ulrich Wiegand, Managing Director of the Berlin Chamber of Crafts - is taking up this development. He names the cross-divisional topics and develops - together with the professional and industry associations as well as companies - the appropriate solution approaches. The UVB participates with concrete proposals in the discussion about a new modern educational policy in the region. Individual political advice is just as much an instrument as high-profile campaigns.

Tariff policy

The UVB, as the regional umbrella organization of employers, advocates a flexible and company-oriented collective bargaining policy vis-à-vis the general public , the media , politics and trade unions , which allows a company-related application through collective agreements. In addition, according to the association, collective bargaining agreements must reduce the cost disadvantages of the German economy and the region in order to secure jobs and promote new employment. The most important working body in this area is the collective bargaining policy committee. This coordinates the collective bargaining policy of the member associations of the UVB and analyzes collective bargaining developments.

Employment Law

The UVB represents the interests of the member companies vis-à-vis both state governments and parliaments in the legislative and ordinance-making process and advocates for a company-related further development of labor and social law . This active participation in economic and labor law policy requires a constant exchange of experience and ideas, which takes place in the legal policy working group. It includes representatives from associations and companies. This committee work is supplemented by the working group for wages and salaries. Across industries, company and association representatives share experiences and develop common positions.

The HR managers of the large companies in Berlin and Brandenburg form an additional cross-sector working group. The focus here is on advice on social and labor law issues as well as issues of company personnel policy. The working group of data protection officers meets regularly. Current court decisions and the content of legislative procedures are regularly discussed by company representatives.

Social security

The aim of the association is to curb additional company wage costs in particular.

The Social Security Committee deals with current issues relating to statutory pension, unemployed, health and employer's liability insurance accident insurance, which are important for companies and a common position for the regional economy is agreed. The committee also coordinates the activities of the employer representatives in the self-governing bodies of the social insurance institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg.

Occupational safety

The UVB supports its member associations and companies in the implementation of occupational safety and corporate environmental protection regulations and offers possible solutions for company-specific problems.

A cross-sector exchange of experience takes place regularly in the working group for occupational safety and operational environmental protection. Under the chairmanship of Horst Jungnickel ( BMW Motorrad-Werk Berlin ), representatives from associations and companies come together for a joint dialogue.
