Association law (Alsace-Lorraine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The realm of Alsace-Lorraine first took over the association law of France in 1871 . After that, associations with more than 20 members required the approval of the government. This regulation hindered the formation of political parties until the new regulation in 1905.

The right to vote in the Reichstag allowed the formation of electoral associations . This enabled the formation of proto-parties at the constituency level. The amalgamation of these associations at state level to state parties was prevented by the district presidents until the beginning of the 20th century using the legal situation. This corresponded to the French tradition. Parties were alliances there for a time that fell apart after the election.

With the state law on public association and assembly law of June 21, 1905, the association law of the state was adapted to that of the state. Subsequently, due to the freedom of association, regional associations of the parties such as the Alsace-Lorraine Center Party or the SPD Alsace-Lorraine were formed .
