Adulteration

As corruption is defined as the intentional or unintentional change an existing object or an existing message .

In contrast to counterfeiting, counterfeiting refers to an existing object; Counterfeiting is the conscious production of an object or information to deceive third parties. If information is falsified, that is, reinvented, one speaks of a lie or fake .

The deliberate falsification of objects is naturally targeted in order to gain an advantage over third parties or to damage them. It is therefore often more difficult for those affected to identify it. In the case of material objects, falsifications can be difficult to identify simply because they relate to an original object that is (initially) trusted with a high level of basic trust. The 1997 Busang hoax was based on the systematic falsification of geological rock samples that were used to simulate the existence of a huge gold deposit.

The unintentional falsification describes the change of information by adding or removing (sometimes) not insignificant parts without the specific intention of gaining an advantage. In relation to material objects, unintentional falsification is understood to be the modification of the original object by adding or removing (non-original) parts (accessories), writings or drawings .

The problem with unintentional falsification consists first in the verification or falsification of the added or removed parts / information and then in the assessment of the importance and significance of the identified parts on the original object.

The term also has a significant meaning in the field of food control and food chemistry , in which " food adulteration " means a (mostly) criminal and undesired manipulation of food to the detriment of customers and consumers, for example when vegetables from conventional cultivation are sold as expensive organic goods becomes.

Warning notices on banknotes

On the 50- and 100- DM - notes of the second series was a small printed note: Who imitates banknotes or falsified or forged or falsified procures and markets it, shall be punished with imprisonment for less than two years.
