The Constitution of Australia is made up of several laws that together constitute the constitutional law of the Commonwealth of Australia .

The Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 is still a law passed by the British Parliament that came into force on January 1, 1901 and united the independent colonies under the Crown of England to form the Commonwealth of Australia.

The 1931 Statute of Westminster is also a law of the British Parliament. It established the greatest possible independence of the Dominions of the British Empire . The Statute of Westminster Adoption Act of 1942 is an act of the Australian Parliament that formally adopted the Westminster Statute. The last restrictions were lifted with the Australia Act of the Australian Parliament of 1986 and a previous corresponding act of the British Parliament of 1985.
