The Constitutional Party ( Arabic حزب الدستور, DMG Ḥizb ad-dustūr , abbreviation DP ) is a party in Egypt . It is headed by former IAEA Director General Mohammed el-Baradei .

The party was founded on April 28, 2012 by Mohammed el-Baradei, the former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize , and a group of Egyptian intellectuals and activists from the National Association for Change . El-Baradei intends to expand the party base for the next election in four years. The Constitutional Party aims to unite all Egyptians regardless of the belief and ideology behind democracy. El-Baradei hopes the party will primarily attract young people who were behind the revolution that overthrew President Hosni Mubarak .

The constitutional party is in discussion with the social democratic party about an alliance of both parties , with the justice party negotiating an unification.

Mohammed el-Baradei's successor in the party leadership is Koptin Hala Schukrallah. Schukrallah is the first female party leader of a political party in Egypt and ran as a presidential candidate for the Constitutional Party in the 2014 presidential election .
