Josef Ferschner

Josef Ferschner (born July 1, 1892 in Baden , Lower Austria ; † November 19, 1968 in Traiskirchen , Lower Austria) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Josef Ferschner visited after the elementary school , the school in Baden, on which he in 1911 graduated . He then enrolled at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna , and passed the state examination in 1916 . The forest engineer who had trained in this way later took over his parents' farm.

In 1934 Ferschner was elected mayor of Traiskirchen, a position he had to give up after the annexation of Austria in 1938. After World War II he was elected Vice Mayor and remained so for 15 years from 1945 to 1960.

In November 1949 he moved into the second Austrian parliamentary chamber in Vienna for the ÖVP as a member of the Federal Council . He stayed that way for five years, until November 1954.

The Josef-Ferschner-Straße in Traiskirchen bears his name in his honor.
