The traffic stick (also: regulation stick , street traffic regulator light stick ) is a traffic control device that is used by the police in road traffic .

It is an approximately 30 cm long stick with black and white stripes with a loop to be worn around the wrist. When used in the dark, the rod can usually be illuminated.

The traffic staff was part of the standard equipment of the traffic police in the GDR , but was also used to regulate traffic in z. B. used by the NVA and border troops of the GDR . It was not used in the Federal Republic of Germany and was abolished in the new federal states as part of reunification . In 2007, some federal states reintroduced the traffic staff as an official aid in manual regulation.

The traffic staff is also widespread in the countries of the former Eastern Bloc .
