Traffic safety

Road safety referred to Transport Economics means freedom from unacceptable risks and hazards associated with locomotion of persons or material goods (so-called transport properties ), for example, in transport with the inclusion of transport infrastructure are transported and transport organization. This is (in contrast to the action-related traffic safety system ) a generic term that basically applies to all modes of transport , but is often reduced to road safety .

Sub-terms

Traffic safety can be assigned different sub-terms according to the modes of transport. In doing so, the security of the transmission of data (also a mode of transport by definition) is neglected.

The concept of security has two forms:

Traffic object safety
The traffic object safety is the security related to the traffic objects (such as travelers or cargo). This includes both protective measures that guarantee the safety of the objects in transit, as well as security against hazards that emanate from the objects in traffic.
Transportation safety
Transport safety describes the safety related to the means of transport (such as vehicles). This includes both active accident-avoiding measures (such as driving safety) and passive accident-reducing measures ( self-protection and counterparty protection) on means of transport. This also includes the areas of vehicle safety and pedestrian safety .
