The Kirchschlager publishing house is a publishing house based in Arnstadt , Thuringia , with a focus on historical criminalistics and regional studies . The publishing house was founded in 1995 by the historian and author Michael Kirchschlager .

Criminology

In 2001 the publishing house published the volume Das Thüringische Obscurum - Terrible, hideous and horrible stories . With the successful volume, criminal history non-fiction books established themselves as the focus of the publishing program. Other volumes such as Das Sächsische Obscurum , Das Sächsisch-Anhaltische Obscurum etc. followed; There were also other collections such as historical serial killers and criminal chronicles of the Third Reich .

The Prussian Criminal Chronicle of Executed Criminals was reviewed in 2008 in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

In his Totmacher series, which has been published since 2014, Gerd Frank compiles historical criminal cases - especially serial killers - with different geographical focuses (Germany, Russia, Asia, USA etc.). Six volumes in the series had been published by April 2016.

The two-volume murder cases published in 2014 and 2015 in the Gera district of the former Kriminalrat Hans Thiers became regional bestsellers.

As part of a project about historical serial killers, a collaboration with the Swedish Police Sports Publishing Company ( Svensk Polisidröttsförlaget ) came about in 2014 .

Regional studies

A focus of the publishing range outside of crime literature is on Arnstadt and the surrounding area, including a city guide and a volume with vernacular stories (Ingrid Groth, Eucheen's stories on the garden fence , 2012). The program also includes publications on historical Thuringian cuisine; for example a Thuringian beer book or new editions of historical cookbooks.
