Wedding toasts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vermählungs-Toaste is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 136). The work was performed for the first time on June 28, 1853 in the Volksgarten in Vienna.

Remarks

The waltz wedding toast was composed on the occasion of the wedding in Dresden between the later Saxon King Albert and Carola von Wasa-Holstein-Gottorp , but not performed there. Ten days after the celebration in the Saxon capital, there was a festival in Vienna's Volksgarten under the motto Memories of Dresden . On this occasion, Johann Strauss then presented his work to the public.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 13 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
