History / locations

administration

The K - Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1923 under the name Robert Klingel GmbH + Co. KG in Pforzheim. However, the first company activities already existed in 1920. The company name can be traced back to the company's founder Robert Klingel. The range of goods initially comprised high-quality textiles and, above all, fabrics. After the destruction in the Second World War, Sachsenstrasse 23 in the northern part of Pforzheim became the company's headquarters. Today the commercial administration is located here.

The company remained in the hands of the Kohm family. After Willy Kohm, his son, Joachim Kohm, a graduate in business administration, became the managing partner of Robert Klingel GmbH + Co. KG in 1975. His brother Andreas (business graduate) did the same in 1978. Willy Kohm moved a significant part of the company's management to Horn (Canton Thurgau) in Switzerland . There his sons Andreas and Joachim became junior partners of the asset management company Willy Kohm & Söhne, which they have been running alone since his death in 2004. K - Mail Order Verwaltungs GmbH (previously Robert Klingel Verwaltungs GmbH ) also operates in the municipality of Horn as the personally liable partner of the German K - Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG .

Logistics center

Other locations in Pforzheim are a large logistics center in the Altgefäll industrial area and customer service in Dennigstrasse. A new, fully automated goods logistics center (Bagstore) was put into operation at the Altgefäll location in 2016. There, around 710,000 items are stored in bags hanging from roller adapters and transported in and out via a rail system on an area of 36,000 square meters. The new storage and order picking system enables order processing at a significantly higher speed. An order is ready for dispatch just 90 minutes after receipt of the order. This means that goods that are ordered in the morning can be delivered on the same day within a radius of around 250 kilometers from the company location.

Stationary trade

In addition, Klingel operates a retail branch on the Wilferdinger Höhe in Pforzheim.

Address trading / list broking

At the end of July 2012 it was announced that Klingel would handle the marketing ( list broking ) of its customer addresses to other companies exclusively through a subsidiary of Bertelsmann AG , AZ Direkt GmbH . Based on the list privilege , this is possible without the consent of the customer.
