The care home Alberschwende , and social center Alberschwende is a retirement home and a center for assisted living in the center of Bregenzerwälder community Alberschwende in the district of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . The buildings at Hof 23 are operated by the “Benevit” company.

History and architecture

The three-story building was erected in 1909. The rectangular building is seven window axes wide; a window axis was added on the left side in 1980. The building has a three-axis central projectile and a gable facade. The sgraffito above the entrance was made by Ewald Fetz in 1967. The modern extension with a wooden facade dates from the 2000s.

chapel

There is a small chapel on the fourth floor of the central projectile. This is a rectangular room with a flat ceiling over a hollow. The ceiling painting shows Jesus as the "Good Shepherd" by Florin Scheel from 1916. It was restored in 1981 by Ewald Fetz. In the chapel there is a statue of the Virgin Mary from the 20th century by Hermann Nitsch . There is also a 19th century crucifix in the chapel.
