In the administrative community Bad Dürrenberg of the Saalekreis four communities were united to handle the administrative business. The administrative community existed unchanged since 1992. On April 1, 2006, the municipality of Nempitz came to the administrative community. On December 31, 2009 Spergau was incorporated into Leuna , on January 1, 2010 Nempitz and Tollwitz were incorporated into the city of Bad Dürrenberg, thus dissolving the administrative community.

The administrative community had an area of ​​46.95 km² and 13789 inhabitants (December 31, 2008).
