Vesconte Maggiolo (old spelling Vesconte de Maiolo ; * 1475 ; † 1550 ) was a Genoese cartographer . His family had a monopoly on card production in the Republic of Genoa for over 150 years . He made maps of the Mediterranean , Black Sea , Africa , the New World and Asia . The famous sea ​​atlas of Vesconte Maggiolo consists of four maps ( parchment ), which were made in Parma in 1512 . The original is in the Biblioteca Palatina in Parma.
