Vetle Vinje
Vetle Vinje (born March 14, 1962 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian rower .
Athletic career
Vetle Vinje from Bærum Roklubb was fourth in the doubles sculls at the 1980 Junior World Championships . In 1981, he finished in one fifth the Match des Seniors , a precursor of the U23 World Championships . In 1982 he won the bronze medal in the double quad.
At the 1983 World Championships in Duisburg, he finished ninth with the double foursome. The following year, Pål Sandli , Espen Thorsen , Vetle Vinje and Ivan Enstad competed in a double scull at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . After a last place in the preliminaries and a third place in the repechage, the Norwegians took second place in the B-final and thus reached eighth place in the overall standings.
The Norwegian four-four came seventh at the 1985 World Championships , and in 1986 the boat finished ninth. With the same line-up as in 1986 (Vetle Vinje, Lars Bjønness , Rolf Thorsen and Alf Hansen ), the boat took second place in 1987 behind the Soviet four-four. At the 1988 Olympic Games , the four Norwegians also won the silver medal, this time behind the Italians.
Vetle Vinje has a PhD in geophysics and works for the CGG .
