The VfL Algenrodt is a German sports club based in the district Algenrodt the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Idar-Oberstein in the district of Birkenfeld .
history
post war period
The club's first soccer team rose to the then third-class Rheinhessen / Nahe regional league in the 1951/52 season . With 22:30 points, the club finished ninth here at the end of the season. Since the league was dissolved for the next season, the team started from the following season in the now fourth-rate 2nd amateur league.
Current time
In the 2004/05 season, the first soccer team played in the Birkenfeld district league , where they finished 13th with 27 points. For the 2013/14 season this league then became a B-Class. In the same season, the team had to relegate to the C-class with 25 points over 14th place. With 66 points, at the end of the 2015/16 season, the team then made the championship and thus the promotion to the B-class. For the season, the club then merged with TSG Idar-Oberstein, also playing in the B class, to form SG Idar-Oberstein / Algenrodt . In this constellation, the team still plays in this league to this day.
