The VfR Kupferdreh (officially: Association for Lawn Sports 1909 Kupferdreh eV ) was a sports club from the Essen district of Kupferdreh . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The club was founded on 1909 from a "soccer group" of Protestant youth. In 1933, the team rose to the then second-rate district class . After the end of the Second World War , the VfR continued to exist as a pure football club after the handball and athletics departments split off. In 1946 the VfR reached the final round of the Ruhr district championship , but failed there at Prussia Essen . The copper turner descended from the Ruhr district league formed in the following season. The low point of the season was a 0:20 defeat at VfR Essen .

In 1950 it even went back to the district class, where the direct rise again succeeded. Three years later, the VfR found itself again in the district class before relegation to the 2nd district class in 1961 marked the sporting low point. In 1964 he was promoted to the 1st district class, which was followed by promotion to the district class in 1971. This became the sporting home of the copper lathe operators until the club merged with SV Byfang on April 14, 1978 to form SV 09/19 copper lathe. This merged on July 1, 2012 with the DJK Borussia Byfang to form SG Kupferdreh-Byfang .
