Detailed view of the map of Viðoy

The Viðvík [ viːvʊik ] ( "Wood Bay") is an uninhabited bay on the east coast of Viðoy , Faroe Islands .

The bay takes its name from the driftwood that washes ashore from Norway. This bay gave the island Viðoy - "wooden island" - its name.

The bay is also suitable for grindadráp (pilot whale hunt), but this only happened eight times in history: November 28, 1804, July 31, 1815, February 21, 1829, July 3, 1833, August 6, 1847, August 16, 1942 , December 30, 1971 and September 27, 1986.

From Hvannasund there are organized hiking tours to Viðvík, but there is no marked hiking trail.
