Via Sacra

The Via Sacra (German: holy road) was the main route through the Roman Forum . It led from the Colosseum to the Capitol .

In the 5th century BC This path was expanded with a substructure to protect against rain and moisture, later reinforced and embellished with colonnades during Nero's reign .

According to recent excavations, the road was at the end of the 6th century BC. BC three meters wide and had a pavement made of tufa slabs . A wide sewer led below the road to the Cloaca Maxima .
