Moulay Brahim Boutayeb (born August 15, 1967 in Khémisset ) is a former Moroccan athlete .

Until the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Boutayeb was known only to a few in the athletics scene, and then more as a 5000-meter runner. The 10,000 meter race in Seoul was tackled very quickly, with the Kenyans Kipkemboi Kimeli and Moses Tanui in particular setting the pace. A small group of leaders passed the 5000 meter mark in a world record and Boutayeb took the lead. On the last lap, he deliberately slowed down and won the race with the fourth-fastest time to date (27: 21.46 min).

After the Olympics, Boutayeb decided to focus more on shorter distances again. Between 1500 and 5000 meters he set new personal bests. At the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo , Boutayeb won the bronze medal over 5000 meters. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Boutayeb was fourth, 75 hundredths of a second behind the winner Dieter Baumann .

After he was eliminated at the World Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart in the 5000 meter heat, Boutayeb announced his retirement. Since then he has tried his hand at rallying .
