art

Opus 74

A 13.5 meter wide and 3.6 meter high mural adorns the east inner side of the entrance pavilion. The work Opus 74 by Jean-Paul Mousseau consists of tiles in turquoise and gold tones. It depicts the tower of the nearby Olympic Stadium in an abstract way, but can also be interpreted as an Olympic flame .

history

The station opened on June 6, 1976, six weeks before the start of the 1976 Summer Olympics , together with the Frontenac - Honoré-Beaugrand section of the green line. It is named after the Boulevard Viau, named after Charles-Théodore Viau (1843–1898). He owned a biscuit factory nearby and was a major philanthropist.
