Video forum
The video forum of the New Berlin Art Association (abbreviation nbk or NBK ) was founded in 1971 by the members of the NBK Board of Trustees Jörn Merkert and Christian Wagner as well as Wolf Vostell and Wolf Kahlen . It was the first collection of video art in Europe. Jo Eckhardt headed the video forum for 25 years. With over 1,600 works, the collection reflects the development and history of video art since 1963. Initially known as the “video library”, a place for meeting and working with artists was set up within the NBK, which not only collects video art, but also promotes and presents it. In order to illustrate this extensive activity, it was renamed Video Forum . The digitization of the works, which were initially produced on 16 mm film and later on analog media such as U-matic , VHS and Betacam SP , was completed. The video forum constantly updates its collection, co-produces with artists and lends works to museums, exhibition projects and TV broadcasters.
