history

Videorama GmbH, together with the brand name "Videorama", was taken over in 1983 by the Silwa Filmvertrieb AG group. The aim was to further strengthen the distribution of films, especially in the area of sex and eroticism. The films are offered on DVD and CD-ROM as well as on VHS . Videorama is one of the leading providers in Europe. The director Harry S. Morgan , who has won several Venus Awards , has published a number of film series under Videorama. Morgan's Happy Video Privat series is the longest running porn film series in Germany and Europe. In this series, a film was released every two to three months from 1984 to 2011.

In 2011, Beate Uhse submitted a takeover offer to Videorama amounting to 50 million plus participation, which was however rejected. In 2016 the company filed for bankruptcy.

Fake lawyer emails

In 2010, Videorama was involved in a phishing campaign. Fake emails claim to have been written by lawyers representing Videorama in copyright and piracy cases. For alleged uploading or downloading of pieces of music, the recipients demanded payments by Ukash or Paysafecard in the amount of usually 100 euros to the alleged lawyers to settle the "criminal complaint". However, Videorama did not file any lawsuits or criminal charges of music piracy, and the use of the company name is part of the scam.
