Vidrik Verlandsson's grave is located near Ucklum in Västra Götalands län in Sweden and is marked by two tall and slender building stones .

Legend has it that the stones were set at the head and foot of the warrior Vidrik Verlandsson , who was killed in a battle on Grössby gärde. The distance between the stones is more than five meters and is supposed to indicate that Vidrik must have been a great warrior.

The name

Vidrik Verlandsson (English Wudga or Widia; Middle High German Wittich , Witege or Witige; Gothic: Vidigoia; Proto-Germanic: Widigaz, Vidrik or Widga; Old Norse: Widga, Videke or Vidrik Verlandsson or Vallandsson or Villandsson) is a hero in several early Germanic sagas, in which he was one of the knights of King Theodoric , as well as in later Scandinavian ballads. In a ballad he gained particular fame through his duel with the giant Långben Rese. In the Middle Ages he became the son of Wieland the blacksmith and his wife Böðvildr, which entitles him to wear a hammer and pliers in his coat of arms.

Vidrik has its historical basis either in the Gothic national hero Vidigoia or in Witichis , the king of the Ostrogoths († 542).
