Gaugsham is a place in Innviertel Upper Austria as well as the village of the municipality Altheim in District Braunau am Inn .
geography
The place is located 12 kilometers southeast of Braunau am Inn and 21 kilometers west of Ried im Innkreis , 3 kilometers southwest of Altheim. The Rotte Gaugsham is located on the southern edge of the Inn Valley and on the western edge of the Innviertel hill country at around 380 m above sea level. A. Höhe, on the north-western edge of the Gaugsham Forest . The Altbach flows through the village from Treubach to the Mühlheimer Ache (Ach) near Altheim.
The village of Gaugsham has around 20 buildings with around 60 residents.
The L1095 Treubacher Straße from Altheim to Treubach leads through the village.

history
The place appears as early as the 12th century when “ Durinc et frater eius Gerrich de Gaugoldesheim, de Gulshemen ” ('Durink and his brother Gerrich von Gaugoldsheim') are mentioned. In 1220 a “ Ulricus de Gouchsheim miles strictuus ” ('Ulrich von Gauchsheim, a capable soldier') is documented. So there was a noble seat here , but it could not be located.
