Margarete Klinckerfuss
Margarete Klinckerfuß or Margarethe Klinckerfuß (born October 18, 1877 in Stuttgart , † January 31, 1959 there ) was a German pianist .
Life
She was the daughter of the instrument dealer Apollo Klinckerfuß (1840-1924) from his marriage to the pianist Johanna Klinckerfuß born. Schultz (1855-1924) and had three brothers and a sister. Her brother Bernhard Klinckerfuß (1881–1940) became a painter.
From 1888 to 1896 she studied piano at the Stuttgart Conservatory. Around 1912 she joined the Order of St. John and took part in the First World War as a St. John Sister.
After 1933 she criticized National Socialism several times and was therefore arrested by the Gestapo in 1937 and admitted to the Christophsbad psychiatric clinic in Göppingen . After 1945 she worked there as a music therapist.
Her autobiography, published in 1947, is valuable and contains memories of numerous important artists, including Johannes Brahms , Ferruccio Busoni , Wilhelm Furtwängler , Edvard Grieg , Wilhelm Kempff , Carl Spitteler , Marchese Silvio della Valle di Casanova , Justus Hermann Wetzel and Hugo Wolf .
Most recently she lived again in her hometown Stuttgart. A part of her estate went to the German Literature Archive in Marbach , in particular records about Busoni and Wolf as well as letters.
