Viera Tomanová

Viera Tomanová (born February 5, 1948 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak politician . She was a member of the SMER and Minister of Labor in the Fico government from 2006 to 2010.

Career

She studied economics at the University of Economics in Bratislava and social sciences at the University of Tyrnau . She then worked for four years as the chief secretary of the director of the PZCR Javolina organization in Bratislava. After that she was the head of the department of social, labor and housing market of MNV in Bratislava-Petržalka for four years. From 1982 to 1986 she ran a nursing home in Bratislava. After this position she worked for one year as magistrate for social and labor market policy for the city of Bratislava. From 1988 to 2003 she worked in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Slovakia, where a. a. as advisor to Minister Peter Magvašiand as head of the State Council in appearance. From 2006 to 2010 she was a member of Fico's Slovak cabinet and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. She has also been a professor at various Slovak colleges and universities since 1994 .
