The quarterly for scientific philosophy and sociology was a specialist journal that emerged from the quarterly for scientific philosophy . The magazine appeared from 1877 in the Leipzig Fues-Verlag , which was renamed OR Reisland-Verlag in 1890 .

Richard Avenarius was the founder and first editor . As a quarterly for scientific philosophy , the publication appeared from 1877 to 1901 with 25 issues. In 1899 Paul Barth took over the editor. In 1902, from the 26th edition, he added the title to a quarterly journal for scientific philosophy and sociology . Publication ended with the 40th edition in 1916. Wilhelm Wundt and Ernst Mach were editorial staff under Barth's editorship . In addition to them, Franz Oppenheimer , Franz Carl Müller-Lyer and Moritz Schlick were authors of the magazine.
