The ReBeatles are a German tribute band from Mainz , which plays songs by the British band The Beatles and presents current hits by other artists in the style of the Beatles.

history

In 1994 four Mainz students formed a Beatles cover band and called themselves "The ReBeatles". The guitarist and singer Andreas Kohlenberg takes on the role of John Lennon , the Berlin-born Martin Schurig that of Paul McCartney on bass, the singer and guitarist Edwin Oehl from Lower Franconia plays George Harrison , and Tobias Hoffmann drums as Ringo Starr .

What began as a hobby quickly developed into a profession. Their concerts take the Beatles impersonators across Europe, Asia and on American television. The ReBeatles released their first album called Fanthology in 1996. In 2009, the Offenbach-born drummer Christian Schüßler replaced long-time drummer Tobias Hoffmann and took on the role of Ringo Starr.

In 2010, Sony Music Entertainment and the ReBeatles produced the CD Get Back on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles, which only contains songs by other artists whose sound and style are based on Beatles' songs, for example Poker Face by Lady Gaga . The ReBeatles added the word "Project" to their band name on this project.

2010 saw the ReBeatles in the fourth episode of the 16th season of the American television show The Amazing Race .
