Vicariate (Orthodox)
The vicariate (Russian Викариа́тство ) is an administrative-territorial sub-area of an eparchy in most of the Orthodox churches with the Byzantine rite ( Russian Orthodox Church, etc.). The highest minister is a vicar bishop (cf. episcopal vicar ). The vicariate is subject to the jurisdiction of the higher eparchy.
