Vike
Vike is a settlement in Eikesdal in the Møre og Romsdal province in Norway .
geography
Vike is located on the lake Eikesdalsvatnet about 25 km west of Åndalsnes and about 80 km southeast of Molde . The slope to Mount Vikesaksa (1,809 m) begins immediately to the east of the settlement .
On the opposite side of the lake, snow- and glacier-covered mountains border the valley. The place can be reached through a 4.2 km long tunnel that ends just before the settlement. Until a few years ago it was only possible to get to Vike by boat.
The Eikesdal is away from the main tourist flows. Some cabins and campsites are available for visitors. The main sources of income for the inhabitants are sheep farming and renting out huts.
A special sight is the impressive Mardalsfossen waterfall at the end of the 18 km long lake, with a height of 655 m it is one of the highest in Norway.
