The Victory Square is a square in Bern , at the northern end of the Kornhausbrücke . The headquarters of the BKW electricity company is located here . The square forms the center of the Spitalacker district . It is served by the tram line 9 and the bus line 10 from Bernmobil .

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, several tennis courts were built on Viktoriaplatz, which were used as an ice rink in winter. The BKW administration building was built in 1915-16 by Max Zeerleder and Willy Bösiger. The windows on the main floor contain reliefs on the subject of hydropower by Karl Hänny .

On April 5, 2011, in the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a camp was set up on the green area in front of the BKW building to demand that the Mühleberg nuclear power plant be shut down .
