location

Vila Olímpia is bordered by the Chácara Itaim, Itaim Bibi, Brooklin Novo, Moema and Cidade Jardim districts. The property values in Vila Olimpia belong to the B category as assessed by the CRECI. The Zonas de Valor B also include the districts of Jardim Paulistano, Alto de Santana and Pinheiros.

history

Today's Vila Olímpia was settled by Portuguese and Italian immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century along the Rio Pinheiros. The planned urbanization began around 1930. Due to the annual flooding of the Rio Pinheiros, the settlement of industry was made more difficult and the zone still had a low property value at that time. In 1990 further measures were taken to develop the infrastructure and the Rio Uberaba and Uberabinha rivers were regulated. This triggered a huge real estate boom in Vila Olímpia. This allowed small and medium-sized businesses to settle there, which led to the district's further prosperity. Today, many multinational corporations such as Unilever , Grupo Santander, AES Eletropaulo, Kimberly-Clark, Parmalat , Google , Yahoo , Motorola , Sony Ericsson , Intel , Microsoft and many others have their headquarters in Vila Olímpia. The accumulation of high-tech companies gave the district the nickname Vale do Silício Paulistano. The TV channels FOX Latin America and Discovery Communications are broadcast by channels in Vila Olímpia.

traffic

There are now more helipontos than bus stops on the main street, Rua Funchal. There are a total of 25 helipontos opposite 24 bus stops, of which the latter are often rarely served in traffic jams. The traffic problems such as traffic jams and the lack of enough parking spaces are due to the uncontrolled expansion of the district and the construction of large office complexes in the 1990s.

nightlife

Vila Olímpia is known for its night life, its many bars, chopperias and dance halls with a wide variety of music styles from the Brazilian pagoda to modern electronic music. Via Funchal with a capacity of 6,000 spectators is a well-known event center for concerts and shows.

It is one of the largest shopping centers of this category in Latin America and in the world. Other striking buildings are the E-Tower , the fifth largest building in São Paulo, the Insper and the Vila Olímpia shopping mall.
