The Villa Cardeto is a building near the city of Anghiari in the province of Arezzo . It is located on a hill 297 m high.

The origins of the villa go back to the 15th century; At that time there was an "Eremo" in a small building, a hermitage in which some lay brothers lived together in a monastery-like manner.

Due to its dominant hilltop location, which allowed an excellent view of the surrounding valley of the Sovara , Cardeto became a fore of the neighboring Castello di Scoiano in the 16th century. The tower of the current villa dates from this time. In the period that followed, the buildings were constantly expanded.

In the 18th century, a wool combing facility was operated in the building complex , which gave the property its current name. The wool was then combed by rotating wooden rollers to which cards (cardo) were attached. Since then the house has been called "Villa Cardeto". The villa was given its present form through extensive renovation work between 1975 and 1985 by the industrialist Prof. Bruno Mangoni from Anghiari. In 1992 the villa was acquired by the German couple Brigitta and Thomas Kudlazek, who restored the property in style and added spacious gardens.

Today, after the acquisition by the Swiss couple Ilona and Rolf Weber, Villa Cardeto is operated as a bed and breakfast and has a large pool.
