Villa Dietz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Villa Dietz was one of the few buildings of the so-called. Bauhaus - Modern in Potsdam . The architect Heinrich Laurenz Dietz built it for himself in 1928/1929.

The villa had to be demolished in 1984 due to building damage. The reconstruction, which was unusual for the GDR, was carried out with partial use of original components, such as B. Doors and banisters.

The house was placed under a preservation order by the council on January 20, 1977. The entry in the list of monuments is controversial, however, as there was presumably an exchange of house numbers.

In 2011, the building was released for demolition by the Potsdam authorities at the request of the owner. Despite resistance from committed citizens, the Friends of the Potsdam Museum and the ArchitraV association, demolition began in July 2012.
