history

Friedrichstrasse was laid out in 1812, runs parallel to the shore of Lake Constance and, as a wide tangent, connects the old town with the castle. From around the middle of the 19th century, it was built on with preferably large and representative buildings. In the explanatory report on the land use plan 2015, the Königin-Paulinen-Stift and the Zollkaserne as well as the Villa Jehle and the Villa Riß and the Villa Redwitz are mentioned as examples of the development of Friedrichstraße from this era.

The Villa Jehle was built by Josef Miller in 1893/1894 for the doctor Bernhard Jehle, who also set up his practice there. After Jehle's death, the doctor Wilhelm Miller took over the house; Jehle's daughters had married Paul Jaray and Karl Arnstein and apparently no longer lived in the building. In World War II destroyed by bombs, the villa in 1949, was faithfully reconstructed. It continued to house doctors' offices and private apartments.

The structure was demolished in the 1970s.

Information board Villa Jehle

Since 2011/2012, an information board on the Friedrichshafen History Trail has been reminding of the building. A successor building was erected on the property, which temporarily housed a branch of the Landeszentralbank Baden-Württemberg and has been used as a restaurant since 2002.
