Villa Kérylos
The Villa Kérylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer is a villa designed in 1908 based on ancient models , which the French archaeologist Théodore Reinach had built. Today it is a museum.
Impressed by the beauty of the landscape, the couple had a building built by the architect Emmanuel Pontremoli from 1902 to 1908, which was based on the model of the Hellenistic villas in Delos , but which should have every modern comfort. The building, which is arranged around an inner courtyard in the form of a peristyle , is also designed according to ancient models.
Reinach's family was related to Béatrice de Rothschild , who a little later, from 1907 to 1912, built the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild two kilometers away .
After his death in 1928, Reinach bequeathed the villa to the Institut de France , of which he was a member. His children and grandchildren lived in the house until the 1960s. 1966 was a monument historique under monument protection provided.
