Villa Klute

The Villa Klute is a Grade II listed house on the road to the seven lanes 9 in Iserlohn , a town in the Märkischer Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The single-storey building behind, with a flat roof and roof structure, was built in 1930 for the manufacturer Karl Klute , based on a design by the Cologne architect Manfred Faber , a representative of New Building . The smooth, plastered surfaces are contrasted by curves on the roof terrace and on the large, barred living room window. From the covered entrance area, it is accessible lengthways with a clear functional division into garden-side living and rear housekeeping.

“What is striking about the architecture, which is fluidly integrated into the garden landscape, is the high terrace roofing that extends over the building line and the living room glazing developed over a segment of a circle, in front of which a horizontally accentuated, decoratively designed grid is placed. In contrast to these dynamic elements, which are obviously inspired by buildings by Erich Mendelsohn and Karl Schneider , there is the vertical accent of the two-storey wing. "
