Washington Cruz CP (born May 25, 1946 in Itabuna ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Goiânia .

Life

Washington Cruz joined the Congregation of the Passionists in and received on 25 July 1971, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos on February 10, 1987 . The auxiliary bishop in São Salvador da Bahia , Thomas William Murphy CSsR , donated him episcopal ordination on May 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis CP, Old Bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos, and Geraldo Claudio Luiz Micheletto Pellanda CP, Bishop of Ponta Grossa . As a motto he chose Praedicamus Crucifixum .

On May 8, 2002, he was appointed Archbishop of Goiânia .
