Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis CP (born March 19, 1911 in Middelburg , Zeeland province , Netherlands ; † November 23, 1998 ) was Bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos .

Life

Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis joined the Congregation of the Passionists in and received on 10 May 1936, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On November 26, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . the titular bishop of Polemonium and ordered him for the first prelates of São Luís de Montes Belos. The Bishop of Roermond , Petrus Moors , donated him episcopal ordination on February 2, 1963 ; Co- consecrators were the bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch , Wilhelmus Marinus Bekkers , and the auxiliary bishop in Münster , Heinrich Baaken . On May 26, 1978 Van Melis renounced the titular bishopric Polemonium. Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis was appointed the first bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos on September 17, 1981 as a result of the elevation of the territorial prelature São Luís de Montes Belos to the diocese of Pope John Paul II .

On February 10, 1987, John Paul II accepted Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis' resignation due to reasons of age.

Estanislau Arnoldo Van Melis participated in the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
