Vicente de Paulo Araújo Matos (born June 11, 1918 in Itapagé , Ceará , Brazil , † December 6, 1998 ) was Bishop of Crato .

Life

Vicente de Paulo Araújo Matos after studying Catholic theology and philosophy received on 29 November 1942, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 21, 1955, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Antioch ad Maeandrum and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Crato. The Archbishop of Fortaleza , Antônio de Almeida Lustosa SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on June 11 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Limoeiro do Norte , Aureliano de Matos , and the Bishop of Crato, Francisco de Assis Pires .

On January 28, 1961, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Crato. On June 1, 1992, Pope John Paul II accepted Vicente de Paulo Araújo Matos' resignation due to reasons of age.

Vicente de Paulo Araújo Matos attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
