The Villa Saphir is a historic, listed building in Bergheim at Graf-Otto-Straße 2 in the Quadrath-Ichendorf district in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The villa , built shortly after 1902, is part of Bergheim's town history as a monument .

Building history and architecture

Its shape is reminiscent of a precious stone, a rectangular cut sapphire. The building originally served as the former administrative headquarters of Schlenderhan Palace and Stud and as the stud master's residence.

The single-storey plastered house has a square floor plan. Today it is covered by a hipped roof, but originally had an upper floor without a roof structure, which gave it a tower-like impression. There are central entrances on the north and south sides, which are flanked by two windows in arched fields. The property is very symmetrical on all four sides. Inside, the floor and stairs have been preserved in their original condition. The layout of the garden with several beds and old trees also dates from the time it was built.

Todays use

In 2006 the house and the garden were completely renovated. Today it is used again as the administrative headquarters of Schlenderhan Stud and as a residential building.
