Villa am Paradies, Knebelstraße 3 in Jena

The Villa am Paradies is the former corps house of the Corps Franconia in Jena , built in 1911 . The building is a listed building .

After the state air raid protection school was housed there during the Second World War , it was later used, among other things, as a building for the SED district leadership, and at the end of the 1990s for about ten years as an “Afro Center”, which also hosted an Africa project day a Jena school as well as drum workshops and black music. After extensive renovations in 2010–2011, the building was reopened in 2011 as the “Villa am Paradies”. Since 2012 there has also been a hotel with ten rooms on the basement of the building.

Even if the Villa am Paradies was extensively renovated in between, the use of the building for parties of all kinds has visibly affected the house. In April 2018, Arena Betriebsgesellschaft mbH took over the house as the new lessee. As a pure party location, the premises of the Villa am Paradies - which include a large ballroom and a loft area as well as a terrace, bar area and kitchen - are no longer to be used. Rather, the focus is on weddings, birthdays, company celebrations, small trade fairs and conferences.

In addition to the hotel, the Villa am Paradies now also houses a beauty studio and a doctor's practice, which, with the renovation work in 2018, moved into their premises on the ground floor.
