Vilsteren (noble family)
Van Vilsteren is a low-nobility family from the village of the same name Vilsteren in Salland , Overijssel .
history
The witness Hermanno de Vilsteren appears in a document from the year 1233 of the Utrecht Bishop Willibrand von Oldenburg . In the fiefdom repertory of the Upper Monastery of Utrecht 1379–1805, which only dates back to 1379, the oldest entries of this family are connected with the Gut zu Vilsteren. Quote:
- The court te Vilster toebehoren with al synen. Item 't Santhuys with sinen toebehoren. Item 't Grote Meyering ends' t Luttike Meyering to Vilster with his toebehoren.
- Zd [1379-1382] (BA1 fol 39v)
- Herman van Vilster.
While the Catholic branch from Wijhe of the Vilsteren family, which came into the possession of the Belgian Laarne Castle, was raised to the baron status, the Protestant branch belonged to the IJlicke, the so-called hoveluden . That is, these belonged to the lower, untitled nobility without a knight seat eligible for a state assembly. In the 17th century the IJlicke was bought by the Catholic branch.

coat of arms
Shield: Three black rafters in gold. Helmet sign: a banner flight according to the sign. The van Haerst / Haersolte and van Mulert families carry the same sign, and it is noticeable that all families come from the Salland region. It is not known whether family relationships exist for the agreements in the shield or only regional ones.
