Vinogradov Fracture Zone
Coordinates: 60 ° 56 ′ S , 29 ° 12 ′ W
The Vinogradov Fracture Zone is an undersea transform fault . It is located south of the chain of the South Sandwich Islands at the transition between the South Atlantic and Weddell Sea .
The namesake, recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) since September 1997, is named after the Soviet geochemist Alexander Pavlovich Vinogradov (1895–1975), Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR .
