Vinpearl Cable Car

Vinpearl Cable Car is a gondola lift that connects the coastal city of Nha Trang in the province of Khánh Hòa in Vietnam with Hon Tre Island ( bamboo island ), about three kilometers away , on which there are various extensive tourist facilities, such as the Vinpearl Resort & Spa with around 1200 beds, an amusement park and a water park .

The gondola lift was built when passenger transport by ship could no longer cope with the rush. In addition, they wanted a transport connection largely independent of the weather. The crossing takes 9 to 12 minutes and is possible up to wind force 7. The system can transport 1500 people per hour in each direction. The cable car opened on March 10, 2007 after a 15-month construction period.

The cable car station in Nha Trang is at the southern end of the city directly on the promenade about 5 m above sea level, the station on Hon Tre Island is on a hill at 33 m height. The most striking feature of the gondola lift are seven high, red and white painted cable car supports , which allow the gondolas to float so high above the sea that even larger cruise ships with a maximum height of 54 m can pass under the gondolas.

From a technical point of view , the 3311 m long gondola lift built by POMA is a detachable monocable gondola with a 52 mm thick hoisting rope to which 65 gondolas with eight seats each can be attached. The Diamond type nacelles were supplied by Sigma Composite . The travel speed is up to 6 m / s (21.6 km / h).

The drive is located in the station on the mainland. The rope is tensioned by a hydraulic tensioning device on the island station.

Immediately in front of the mainland station there is a tension support that deflects the cable coming horizontally from the station to the high supports in the sea. The next seven high pillars each stand on a concrete framework supported by four concrete pillars that stand in 40 m deep water on 6 m thick foundations in the seabed. The concrete structure is a total of 50 m high (excluding the foundations). The actual, 65 m high cable car supports are steel framework structures on which a steel tube is placed. On the first high support, there are two steel tubes placed at an angle with roller batteries in order to guide the rope in a large radius from the relatively steep rise back to the horizontal. The supports have to withstand high waves and high wind loads and are designed to be earthquake-proof. Overall, the columns, calculated from the top of the foundations, have a height of 115 m. Shortly before the island station there is a smaller support that guides the rope into the station.

The operator of the facility is the Vinpearl Tourism and Trade Stock Company. The plant is said to have cost 15 million euros.
