Virgilijus Juozas Čepaitis (born November 8, 1937 in Šakiai ) is a Lithuanian writer and politician.

Life

In 1954 he graduated from the School of Education in Kaunas and in 1961 the diploma studies at the Faculty of Translation at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow . From 1958 he worked for many publishing houses. He translated the books from Russian and English to Lithuanian and from Russian to Polish. From 1955 to 1956 he worked for the editorial staff of the daily Komjaunimo tiesa . From 1988 to 1990 he was a member of Sąjūdis and from 1990 to 1992 a member of the Seimas .
