Virginia Steen-McIntyre

Virginia (Ginger) Steen-McIntyre (born December 3, 1936 in Chicago ) is an American geologist .

Life

After graduating from Amundsen High School (1955), she studied Philosophy, Science, Geology and Soil Science at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois (AB, 1959), Washington State University (MS in Geology, 1965) and the University of Idaho . She is a member of the Geological Society of America, International Association for Quaternary Research (INQUA), and American Association for Quaternary Research. In Washington she met David H. McIntyre (geologist of the Geological Survey; † December 15, 2012) know, whom she married in 1967.

As a student she was in 1966, the Geological Survey, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, with a team (u. A. With Harold E. Malde (1923-2007)) to the archaeological site Hueyatlaco south of the Mexican city at Valsequillo, Puebla sent where Cynthia Irwin -Williams (1936–1990) directed excavations since 1962. They were supposed to be using the latest methods to date tools they had found, and they were found to be about 250,000 years old - which was inconsistent with the scientific consensus that America was first settled before 25,000. From April 2002 she was in contact with Charles Repenning .
