Viriditas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Viriditas (from the Latin viridis = green) is the Latin term for green power developed by Hildegard von Bingen and describes a basic power that should be inherent in all of nature, i.e. people, animals, plants and minerals. According to Hildegard, the basic power contained in everything is the basis of healing. The term tension force has been proposed as a modern expression . According to Hildegard, viriditas is weakened by monotonous activities, but in her opinion it can be refreshed by spending time in nature, for example hiking. It is a basis of the Hildegard mysticism.

Pope Gregory the Great also used the term. Of recent writers, Kim Stanley Robinson uses this term in his science fiction novels. Alternative medical ventures are sometimes named after this and even pieces of music, e.g. B. by Alfred Harth .
