Virtual minefield

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the motto The Virtual Minefield , the aid organization Medico international and the concept artist Peter Zizka have teamed up to draw attention to the threat posed by mines and duds in many countries around the world.

For this purpose, Peter Zizka created the art floor installation The virtual minefield , which shows photographically accurate images of mines. Anyone who goes over it will enjoy the bizarre beauty inherent in the pattern made of various shapes and materials. Only at second glance does the terrible object reveal itself.

As part of the art and donation campaign 600 × Create Movement - Clear the Mine in favor of the Mine Victims Fund from medico international, the 80 cm × 80 cm large walk-in segments of the installation were acquired. You received a donation receipt and one of the 600 limited art segments after the end of the campaign. The proceeds were and will be used to finance the laborious work of clearing mines , measures for the psychological and physical rehabilitation of mine victims and educating the population about the mine hazard in the medico project areas in Angola , Afghanistan , Cambodia and El Salvador .

Segments can be purchased under a campaign page. The virtual minefield appears as a pattern made up of many small squares. As in a memory, the cleared fields are turned over. The donor can see exactly which aid project his donation will benefit from. After the exhibition tour through Europe, he receives the segment selected on the Internet as an action relic.

The minefield was awarded the Gold Award by the jury of ADC Germany and ADC Europe.
